Raku pieces are delicate and subject to chipping if they are handled incorrectly.  Never pick up a raku pot by its rim, and never expose raku to direct sunlight as the colors will fade.  If the piece becomes dusty you may wash it gently in mild detergent.  Rinse well and allow to air dry.  Never use a raku piece to serve food as the glazes contain certain elements which may be harmful.  Raku glazes are porous, so pieces may not be used  to hold living plants or cut flowers.
